Board of Supervisors
The Board of Supervisors is the governing body of the county. One Supervisor is elected from each of the five districts in the county to serve a four-year term. The Board is responsible for adopting an annual budget, establishing the annual property tax rate, setting policies, goals and objectives to direct the county's growth and development, and carrying out other responsibilities as set forth by Mississippi state statutes. The Board appoints the County Administrator to manage the daily operations of the county.
Board Meetings
The Board meets in the Board Room of the County Administration and Board of Supervisors Office (Historic Jail Building) at 314 State Street.
Meetings begin at 9:00 a.m.
Matters must be placed on the docket by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday prior to a meeting. Any backup info must be supplied by that time.
To Appear Before The Board
If you wish to appear before the Board of Supervisors to discuss an important matter pertaining to the county, you must notify the Board Office not later than noon on the Wednesday prior to the Monday meeting. Any backup information and/or exhibits pertaining to the matter you wish to discuss must be delivered to the Board Office by the same deadline. If you have been scheduled to appear before the Board, or if you have a matter to be discussed and you would like to have it dismissed from the agenda, please contact the Board Office prior to the beginning of the meeting.

Darryl V. Grennell, District 4 Supervisor
Darryl Grennell is autochthonous to Natchez, Adams County, Mississippi; he attended Holy Family Catholic School during his primary years and Natchez Public Schools during his secondary years, and graduated from North Natchez High School. He graduated from Tougaloo College and Alcorn State University, and has done additional graduate work at the University of Southern Mississippi.
He is a faculty member in the department of Biological Sciences at Alcorn State University where he teaches Microbiology, Medical Microbiology and Genetics. He has also been involved in several research projects and academic programs at the university. In addition, he received one the highest awards given by the State of Mississippi to faculty at institutions of higher learning, the HEADWAE Award for Outstanding Faculty Member at Alcorn State University 2005-2006. Darryl is also President of the Adams County Board of Supervisors, where he represents District Four of Adams County.
Darryl is involved in many professional, civic, community, and service organizations nationally, throughout the State of Mississippi and locally: First Vice President of the Mississippi Association of Supervisors Minority Caucus, Past Polemarch and Life Member of Kappa Alpha Psi, Past State President and Past Southwestern Province Board of Directors of Kappa Alpha Psi, Member of the National Strategic Planning Committee of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, President of the Natchez Little Theater Board of Directors, President of Historic Natchez Foundation, Member of Phi Delta Kappa, Member of H.R. Revel Masonic Lodge F and AM, Member of Beta Beta Beta, Member of Beta Kappa Chi Honor Society, Past President Alcorn Faculty Senate, Served on the State of Mississippi Fire Ant Task Force, Past Advisor of the Alcorn Pan Hellenic Council, Member and Trustee at Zion Chapel AME Church, Past Officer, Board Member and Life Member of the Natchez Branch of NAACP, Board Member of Partnership for a Healthy Mississippi, Executive Board Member of Southwest Planning and Development District, Member of the Mississippi Association of Educators, Member of the National Educators Association, Member of the Mississippi Association of Supervisors, Member of MAGPA, Member of NAPAC, Member of Natchez Downtown Development Association, Member of the Adams County Democratic Executive Committee, Former Delegate to the National Democratic Convention, Member of the Natchez Literary and Cinema Celebration Advisory Board, Member and Officer of the Boys and Girls Club of the Miss-Lou, Member of the Krewe of Mer. He is a member and officer of many other organizations.
He is the son of Jonathan and Renza Grennell of Natchez and the brother of five siblings.
His continued goals for Adams County:
